Engineering Stability
in Extreme Conditions
A custom guttered scaffold roof spanning 65m x 35m, designed to withstand high winds and complex site constraints.
Overview
This project required a safe and secure temporary roof system spanning 65m x 35m on an existing roof in a high wind zone. The site presented multiple challenges, including limited scaffold support points and numerous obstacles, all while ensuring the highest safety standards for workers and the structure.
Challenges
Safety was the top priority throughout the planning and execution stages. Key considerations included:
- Minimizing structural height to reduce wind exposure and risk.
- Designing a secure anchoring system to prevent movement under extreme wind conditions.
- Maintaining a safe working environment for the team during installation and throughout the project.
Our Solution
We implemented a guttered scaffold roof system with a custom-designed gutter and adjustable support structure, allowing for efficient roof replacement without compromising safety.
To further enhance stability, bespoke fixings were engineered to securely anchor the scaffold to the existing building. Every component was designed and tested to meet strict safety requirements, ensuring the structure could withstand the harsh wind environment.
Outcome
The result was a safe, secure, and successful project:
- Zero safety incidents during the entire program.
- Uninterrupted workflow, thanks to a robust and weather-resistant design.
- A solution that combined engineering precision with uncompromising safety standards.
